“Once you free your mind about a concept of harmony and of music beer being “correct”, you can do whatever you want”
- Ben misquoting Giorgio Moroder
What is Beereratne?
Beereratne Brewing & Blending is a one-man brewing operation from the Dandenong Ranges that started in December 2023. Each batch is lovingly handmade - from the recipe to the brewing, the can design to the outer packaging - all elements are designed and made by me, Ben Weereratne (hence B’eereratne)
When is Beereratne?
A new Beereratne beer comes out at the start of each season and always explores a new style, a traditional technique or is an experiment with a new ingredient or product - all with some unique twist that only a tiny brewery like this could achieve.
Who is Beereratne?
For nearly 10 years I was a chemical engineer working in the petrochemical industry spending most of my weekends homebrewing. That was until a series of fortunate events allowed me to change careers, study brewing at TAFE and get a job brewing at one of Melbourne’s most celebrated breweries Stomping Ground.
Later, another opportunity presented itself when Hop Hen Brewing in Lilydale, a brewery much closer to home, who hired me as their brewer with the permission to start my own brewing operation on the side.
After 18 months of successful one-off batches, I took Beereratne on full-time in mid-2025 and tripled production (still, only about 12,000L) by branching out and brewing at a handful of Victorian breweries. And in 2026, we will double production again!
We’re still very tiny in the grand scheme of things, and this is by design. It lets us focus on what we do best - having a hyperfocused attention to detail while maintaining a curiosity to experiment.
Ultimately, Beereratne aims to have a small taproom and fermentary somewhere in the Dandenong Ranges where we can share our passion with our community.
