Farmhouse Ale with Cherries // Seasonal #004

2024 GABS Festival Beer

Inspired by French farmhouse ales and the cool climate wines of the Yarra Valley (VIC), this beer is made with locally malted barley and wheat, lashings of rolled oats, and a mountain of rye.

Fruity esters and spicy phenols from saison yeast produce a perfume of pear, cracked pepper and cloves that complement the white wine and candied orange aromas of Astra, a hop found only in the Victorian high country.

Finally, 55 kg of Yarra Valley cherries were added late in fermentation to provide the pinkish hue and rich stonefruit flavours that round out this Pinot Noir inspired saison.

Highly carbonated like a certain wine district near the Ardennes Forest, this is the perfect companion when watching cycling at midnight in July.
